Hi,
I'm in the process of implementing ISO/TS16949 in my company but have been informed that I also have the task of implementing ISO 14001 !!!
Instead of having 2 seperate management systems I would like to intergrate as much of it as possible to save time.
Has anyone out there already done this?? If so I would love some guidance. I need as much help as I can possibly get.
Note: new to my company - 3 months & I'm horrified by the lack of any systems - quality or otherwise. My work is definitely cut out!!
We're not a manufacturing unit we're just the warehousing, sales, packing & distribution unit for the company.
:thanx:

There are numerous threads in this website about integration of management systems. Use the search function to find them. And feel free to ask SPECIFIC questions that have not been asked yet.
Welcome to the Cove.

I am not too knowledgeable on TS, I work mostly with ISO 9001 but I have just had my first client go through certification with an integrated 9001/14001system - in your part of the UK too (Castleford).
As Sidney has said, there are numerous threads for you to read regarding integrating systems. I would just offer a couple of useful websites for the regulatory side of 14001. One of the first things I would look at is the applicable legislation so try www.netregs.gov.uk which will help guide you. You can than access the regs through www.opsi.gov.uk. Hope this helps.

Hi,
I'm in the process of implementing ISO/TS16949 in my company but have been informed that I also have the task of implementing ISO 14001 !!! Quick question - if, as you say later in your post, your site is just the sales and warehousing operation why are you not included in your company's existing TS system. The whole purpose of the process approach and the TS audit process is that it covers all areas of the system. At the very least you need to speak to your manufacturing site and see where you fit into the highest level processes.
Instead of having 2 seperate management systems I would like to intergrate as much of it as possible to save time.
Has anyone out there already done this?? If so I would love some guidance. I need as much help as I can possibly get. As Sidney says the best way of getting answers is to find a specific area where you have a problem and then post a question. There are plenty of Covers who have been through this process and will be able to help.
Note: new to my company - 3 months & I'm horrified by the lack of any systems - quality or otherwise. My work is definitely cut out!!

If your site is not manufacturing or adding value to the product that ends up on the vehicle then you can not be registered to TS 16949. Search the Cove, there have been a number of discussions regarding this topic. I've also encountered this type of situation as an Automotive supplier doing the logistics and repacking of service parts for 10 sister facilities. These parts did not fall under our TS scope because we did not actually do anything to the part itself, packing was not considered value added. As for intergrating TS or ISO 9000 with ISO 14001, I'd say it is possible and should be the goal. While you are at it tie in ISO 18000 too:frust:

If your site is not manufacturing or adding value to the product that ends up on the vehicle then you can not be registered to TS 16949.That's correct, but they still have to implement the applicable requirements of the TS 16949 Specification if they are supporting a manufacturing site that needs to be TS certified. Just because they can not be certified to it, does not mean that they are not required to comply with the relevant requirements.
PS. ISO 18000 is an RFID standard. You probably meant OHSAS 18001.

Integrated TS & 14k is a skoosh if you adopt the correct approach (for a manufacturing site anyway.
I done TS first, then 14k separate then integrated a bit at a time.
Do the 'non-process' integrated elements first:
Training, document control, records, CAPA, internal audit, etc.
Then do the environmental specifics:
Legal & others, evaluation of compliance.
Then as you're doing the process stuff, look to be merging everything else in to 'the-process-approach':
i.e. dont be looking to rhyme off procedures, look at each department/process/employee role in your company and fill in the gaps making sure you cover all the requirements.
Every department/process/employee (depending on your approach) will have an environmental aspect of some kind to varying degrees, they will all require some kind of operational control, etc, etc.
For info I had to do it the wrong way to learn what the correct way is.
Best of luck...
