View Full Version : What is QSB Training? It's a GM thing - 'Quality System Basic' Training Lpitt56 18th December 2006, 09:20 PM I received an email request asking if I conduct QSB Training. What the heck is QSB training? Little help now! harry 18th December 2006, 09:36 PM It's a GM thing - 'Quality System Basic' Training QSB training consists of key strategies including Fast Response, Risk (RPN) Reduction, Standardized Operator Training, Standardized Work, Layered Audits, Error Proofing Verification, C.A.R.E., and Lessons Learned. The ultimate goal of General Motors is a reduction in their quality and warranty costs. By reviewing QSB strategies, suppliers will develop action items for each of the strategies to improve their processes. Regards. Tim Folkerts 18th December 2006, 09:37 PM The site www.acronymfinder.com (http://www.acronymfinder.com) lists seeral possibilities QSB Fading QSB Queen Street Backpackers (Auckland, New Zealand) QSB Quality Systems Basics QSB Qualified Supplemental Benefit QSB Quantum Singleton Bound The 3rd one looks promising, but I can't say I've ever heard "QSB" used as an abbreviation. Tim F P.S. Looks like Harry not only beat me by a minute, but he also had a better answer. Howard Atkins 18th December 2006, 10:20 PM I received an email request asking if I conduct QSB Training. What the heck is QSB training? Little help now! As harry said it is a GM thing and I think that there are registered trainers. This is the latest of the "new " tools They are the same old things with a new name AndyN 18th December 2006, 10:29 PM Ha! Reminds me of a conversation I had a few years back with the UAW rep. at a certain GM plant who wanted me to develop just this type of training............. Andy Kales Veggie 19th December 2006, 09:47 AM QSB is usually required when a supplier is placed under CS-II (controled shipping level II, with third party certification of product prior to shipment to GM). Russ 19th December 2006, 01:33 PM We just went through this mandated training since we are a supplier to Allison Transmission. Here are the main points. This involed a 2 day training program involving QA personnel, some managers, and most supervisors. Attendees were our choice not theirs. ------------------------------------------ NINE STRATEGIES COVERED: 1. Fast Response 2. Control of Nonconforming Product 3. Risk(RPN) Reduction 4. Standard Operator Training 5. Standardized Work 6. Layered Audits 7. Error Proofing Verification 8. C.A.R.E. (Customer Acceptance Review and Evaluation) 9. Lessons Learned -------------------------------------------- As you can see it's some of the same old stuff with a new name. One mistake we have not made is to let them mandate our response. What makes sense to us and will truly improve the long-term revenue of the company is being implemented. We have taken a hard stand against anything which is just for the sake of the program. So far we have not had a lot of gnashing of teeth from our SQE. mjones2 28th July 2008, 10:14 AM I have heard that QSB Training / Implementation will be required for all GM suppliers for the 2010 model year. Not sure whether they will come in and perform an audit or not. Also, the QSB class is now expanded to 3 days. Larry.Jiang 15th August 2008, 12:30 PM QSB is the decument that GM require the suppliers,But I don't think GM do it well itself. I don't think this training meaningful,It's the summary of GM GMS(global manufacturing system) Amr Sakr 11th February 2009, 02:57 PM Dear Sir, Am a supplier for general motors and they asked me to be QSB certified can you help me to find a training center for this program.
