Can anyone advise me if there is any requirements by A2LA on management qualifications?
I was told that A2LA requires a Lab Manager to be a degree graduate & to be at least 10yrs of relevant experience, while a Lab Engineer must be a degree Graduate with 5 yrs of relevant experience.....

There are A2LA labs in the membership here, one is likely to reply.
Just curious, why A2LA instead of SINGLAS, since you are in Singapore?

Thanks Hershal.
We will be going for Singlas accredition Singapore Lab but since we are also setting up our full regulatory Labs in Shanghai, we have not decided to go for Singlas or A2LA.

For Shanghai, I can certainly suggest HKAS or CNAL (the Chinese ABs)..refer to

We will certainly go for the local accreditations but would include either A2LA or Singlas.

If you are looking at the potential for a U.S. based AB, have you considered all, or only A2LA? May I ask what regulatory aspect you are looking at?

Hi Hershal, we are setting our EMC testing facilities. I understand that Navlab is also another consideration but direction from Top is to achieve accreditation by A2LA.... Any comment? Do share with me your opinion...

In North America, there are several ABs that are internationally recognized, that is, direct signatory status in ILAC and/or APLAC for laboratory accreditation.
They are: IAS, A2LA, NVLAP (all U.S. based) and SCC (Canada.
Either should be able to provide the accreditation you seek.
I suggest talking to ALL before settling on one.....ask hard questions (what member of staff is assigned to the file, scheduling availability, costs to obtain/maintain accreditation, who makes decisions on the issuing of the accreditation, questions of that nature).....then contact accredited labs of those ABs.....not just EMC, but branch out and ask others also.....the service they received is what you can expect.
Hope this helps.

This certainly helps... We will do the homework before deciding the AB to commit. But I understand that A2LA is tougher...

Talk to many accredited organizations from each AB and in particular ask the labs about their assessor (whether staff or contract) and how thorough the technical assessment was.....
You may be surprised in the end.....
Hope this helps.

I have A2LA requirements for Automotive. Under 5.2.1, supervisor (reviewing reports) are required to be equipped with either:
1. NARTE EMC Engineer Cert
2. BSEE or BS Physic Sc and 5 yrs EMC Technical Experience
3. MSEE with 3 yrs EMC Technical Experience
4. Associate Degree with 10 yrs EMC Technical Experience
Question :
1. Are these requirements set for Automtive applicable for ITE?
2. Document also state "exceptions must be approved by AEMCLRP". What kind of exceptions?
Hope to get some replies.....
