I'm not an expert, but a lot of folks here are. What are your needs? How are you using what you currently have? What are your current processes? A little background will help the folks here to give you a more cogent answer.

No gage R&R in place. anything from micrometers to network analyzers.
Needing system or documentation to steer in right direction.
Have done study on new hires with micrometers, but not a full process and so forth.

A lot of people think highly of Minitab (http://www.minitab.com/products/minitab/14/features.aspx), which is a complete statistics package with MSA functions, and GAGEtrak (http://www.cybermetrics.com/products/GAGEtrak/index.htm) which is nominally a calibration management package but also includes MSA functions. No endorsement implied; take advantage of free trials before buying.

A lot of Covers have attached Excel MSA spreadsheets to various threads if you want to go that route. Just verify that the spreadsheets is current with the MSA 3rd edition constants.

Just finished reviewing a gage R&R performed for our ICP analysis utilizing MiniTab software. The report comes out quite nicely, broken down by sample/operator/instrument/specimen. MiniTab supplies an excellent assortment of graphs, stats functions, and reporting options. As Jim suggested, take a peek at the program and see how you like it.

On another note, I'm sure there is other software you can obtain which is used specifically for Gage R&R...I suggest MiniTab as something you can use for gage R&R but can also utilize for many other tasks.

It seems you might be confusing gage tracking and gage studies. A GR&R is a study for gage repeatability and reproducibility, it shows the variation in operator and the measurement device. A gage system implies a way to track the due dates and the device its self, for a gage tracking system GAGETRAK is a off the shelf easy to use program, which includes GR&R abilitys.

Minitab is a statistical program, and it happens to have the GR&R in it. It is a waste if all you need is GR&R, or gage controls.

The simple excel sheets WORK fine. As for studies with new hires, that is a bad idea. Never train a person to use a gage for a GR&R, bad data is worse than no data. Also a GR&R is not a calibration, a GR&R will tell you if the gage will work for a specific part or job, not if the gage meets the manufactures original specs.
