Hi....this is my first visit to Elsmar Cove. Looks like an nice place to get information :)

I've been tasked to come up with a format for a Gage R & R study. I've got all the steps down and have a pretty good idea what I need to do - with one exception....that is how to effectively enter appraiser results into an excel spread sheet that will analysis my results. I have a printed copy of what the excel spreadsheet looks like. It has "Measurement System Analysis" printed in the upper section - I think it came from here at some time since google brought me here in the first place. My question is... is this spreadsheet available without cost, or is it part of a purchased SPC software?

Thanks for your help......

Hello, and welcome to the Cove!

Generally, most all of the attachments that have been posted should be available to you. I tried to make a cursory search for you, but MSA/ gauge R&R is a heavily covered topic (it looked like Google for me; 1200000 potential hits came up :)).

I know there have been spreadsheet examples posted that were graciously provided on this. Maybe one of the moderators can assist searching for attachments.

If you got some time, you might can start a search on your own, and see if there's something that really interest you.

You are free to make use of the MSA attachments that you may find here.

A couple of words of caution:

Some of the attachments were created to the AIAG MSA manual 2nd edition and have not been updated to the 3rd edition. This requires updating the constants. Search in this forum for a validation data set that you can use to validate the results of the spreadsheet.

A few spreadsheets automatically make a determination whether the gage is acceptable or not. Depending on whether your gage will be used for inspection or SPC, this determination may be flawed.

I Have A Excell Spread Sheet That Does Gage R&r To The Thrid Edition It Also Contains The Anova Method The Only Problem With It Is That Is For Three Operator And Three Trials Only. But You Only Have To Insert The Data Once And It Follows Thru All The Formats, It Even Creates A X Barr And R Chart. I Will Try And Attach It To This Post

Creed........

I want to thank you for the spread sheet. You and several others on this site has really given me more than what I expected.......

We do short run manufacturing and we're developing an SPC process. Introducing the SPC concepts including Gage R&R will be a cultural change for us that many other's have experienced. Although I have gone down this path before with minimal success, now I have full upper management support. And we all know that makes a huge difference towards its success.

Thanks again for the info.........
