Hi,
Could anyone help with information (generic) to compile a OHSAS 18001 course for the workforce. I need them to understand the background, structure, principles, standard and implementation etc. of the OHSAS 18001 standard.

Will be greatly appreciated!

Welcome to the Cove

Let me ask some questions....

Why does the workforce need to know all that information?

Is it really relevant to them?

What do you intend for them to do with that information?

And let me give some helpful advice....

Everything you need to know has already been discussed here and is available FREE if you take the time and expend the effort to look for it. Quite honestly there is nothing new that hasn't already been provided.

One last question....What do you know about 18001?

And lastly, it looks like you're needing quite a bit based on your profile.

You're right, I have not much experience with 18001 and have the responsibility to provide this training (basic course) for at least supervisory level. I was instructed to use any info I can get to compile this course. Please direct me to the information available as you mentioned.

Well to begin with you can just scroll down the opening page of the Forum and you'll find the area you're looking for. Or you could use the tool provided on the bar called "SEARCH" and type 18001, or you could just follow the link here and scroll down until you find what you need. http://elsmar.com/Forums/forumdisplay.php?f=43

Part of OHSAS 18001 (clause 4.4.2) requires competency of those that can effect OH&S performance.
( 4.4.2 Training, awareness and competence
Personnel shall be competent to perform tasks that may impact on OH&S in the workplace.
Competence shall be defined in terms of appropriate education, training and/or experience. )

I would suggest that "YOU" actually start there. If you are going to conduct training it might be wise that you actually know what you're talking about. What if someone asks a question, what would you be able to say other than "UH"?
