At any rate, there's an example of a spring testing unit here (http://www.pluto.dti.ne.jp/~fujitest/e-fpc-v.htm). Unless you're dealing with a lot of measurement, it probably isn't cost-effective to have such a thing, though. Given the proper design, including materials and construction, it's possible to calculate spring rates and forces, and when there is a need for actually testing springs, a dedicated fixture is usually designed and built. |
