This may seem like a silly question but... The one that they have here is horrible! There are two forms next to each other with the same form number and date that have different and contradicting information. This is all through the book! There are forms they don't use, policies they don't follow, training they don't do. arg! They are supposed to have a new one that is "corporate" by the end of the year...
I'm hoping to toss the whole thing and just say we do not have one at this time.
Please Help!:biglaugh:

Based on the information you provided, I would say that this is your best option at the moment, and just start fresh. :agree1:
ISO 9001:2000 does not require an "HR Manual". There are certain items that are required, though, such as training where necessary, evaluation of the effectiveness of the actions taken, records maintenance, etc. See Section 6.2.2 Competence, Awareness, and Training for more details.
Good luck, and remember that there is a wealth of information here on the Cove, and lots of folks more than willing to help.

As stated above ISO does not require an HR manual.
The only procedures required per ISO are:
1.) Control of Documents
2.) Control of Nonconforming Product
3.) Corrective Action
4.) Preventative Action
5.) Control of records
6.) Internal Audits
However section 4.2.1 of ISO states " The quality managament system documentation shall include:
a.) Documented statements of a quality policy and quality objectives
b.) a quality manual
c.) documented procedures required by this International Standard,
d.) documents needed by the organization to ensure the effective planning, operation and control of it's processes and
e.)records required by this International Standard.
Paying close attention to item d is the HR manual vital/needed to your organization? If so then I would ensure you updated or rewrote your manual to reflect what you actually do.

Ahhhh yes, another company where "people are our most important resource".
The other posters are of course correct-- no HR manual is required by ISO 9001. But what the company is doing in HR is, in the law enforcement community, typically called a clue.

It is not that we do not want to have one, it is that the state of the one we have is horrible. There is one in process that is somewhat "corporate". This will not be finished until the end of the year.
The items will be covered in Competence, Awareness and Training for now and later we will use the "Policy Manual". The only problem will be is keeping the HR Manager from pulling old stuff out of the old manual and using it...:nope:
Thank you so much for your posts. :thanx:

Then make the HR manual obsolete and remove it from usage which will prevent anyone from using it.:whip:
