View Full Version : Does anyone have a product specification template?

Does anyone have a copy of a product specification template? I've been asked to come up with one and I'm not sure where to start. We're wanting to standarize our specifications so they all have the same outline.

Thanks

every company I've worked for has had a different product specification format. A spec for a wing nut can be very different from a spec for a circuit board.

It might help if you tell us what you make.

Thanks,

We make support communication equipment for aircraft OEMs.

Any template would work I just trying to figure out what the outline should consist of.

Thanks again,

more questions, just trying to narrow it down...

What is the purpose of the specification?
Is it for internal use only or will it go to customers?
If internal who will be using it?
Is the goal to make it as short and sweet as possible or is to be more like a technical file with design specifics?

What is the purpose of the specification? I would like to use it as a design specification for new product.

Is it for internal use only or will it go to customers? Both.

If internal who will be using it? Engineering, quality, and manufacutirng.

Is the goal to make it as short and sweet as possible or is to be more like a technical file with design specifics?[/ I wouldlike for it to be simple but I want to ensure that we hit all the high points too. :thanx:
