Guys, I was hoping to obtain some information on a condition known as " The Red Plague." It has to do with copper wiring that has oxidation because of improper coating processes. We have a situation where I work that could be a serious issue. I was curious if anyone else has encountered a similar scenerio and I am wanting to research as much info I can on this issue. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks:thanx:

Welcome to The Cove! :bigwave:

I found this paper (https://escies.org/GetFile?rsrcid=1040) for you.

Anyone here have experience with the Red Plague?

Moderator note:
I fixed the spelling in thread title from "plauge" to "plague" which may have hindered your search at the outset.

In short, "red plague" is a form of corrosion most often referring to silver plated copper wire - see this wiki article Red_plague_(corrosion)

Thank you very much for the informative paper on the subject of Red Plague. I am curious if there are other companies out there that have experienced this problem. If so how did they address the inspection of the wire with-out stripping (Destructive) testing. Also the wire could be free of the plauge in one spot yet contain it in another. I need some help. Thanks
