View Full Version : Qualifying a CMM Star Probe - Brown/Sharpe CMM Model Gage 2000

I have a problem that I hope someone can help me with. We recently purchased a 5 probe star styli for our Brown/Sharpe CMM Model Gage 2000. The problem we are having is when we try to qualify the probe. The software we use is "Reflex". After completing the probe qualification we measure a 9.00" diameter feature. Each of the 4 probes touches the part at least 3 times around the entire diameter. However the measurement obtained is out of tolerance far more than it should be. (.200" vs .010").

Can someone walk me through the correct process for qualifying the star probe. I understand that we need to qualify each of the 5 probes individually.

Also use the search form. There are many posts regarding CMM info. Although CMM talk is a special free forum suited towards CMM users.

What Rhudgell has failed to tell us is that s/he is the Director of Marketing/Operations for Carbide Probes.

Artemis-

If you already have a Renishaw probe on your CMM, consider upgrading to a PH10M articulating probe head. You will quickly wonder how you ever got along without it.
