We recently achieved our ISO Certification through DNV. We have had a few customers ask for copies? Before I do this, should they be flagged as controlled, or documented of where copies have been issued? Or can I provide them copies? (I remember hearing something about them being controlled.)
Thanks

I would not control them or keep track of who I sent them to. They have an expiration date so they know its status.

Congratulations on receiving your certification.....:applause:
At my company we provide certs. to our customers without keeping track of or documenting every copy. IMO It would be to much of a hassle to track every copy issued.

In the olden days, registrars issued certificates printed on decent quality paper and regarded them as legal documents which had to be tracked down and returned if the registration was cancelled for any reason.
Now with certificates being issued electronically and free for download from the registrars' websites, the registrars are not treating them as controlled documents.
So why should you?
Feel free to distribute them as generously as you wish.

Congratulations Trojan !! :applause:
I have received controlled and uncontrolled copies from suppliers, but I have never been asked to send back or destroy an obsolete copy....
We do not control the copies that we issue to our customers... I wouldnīt worry about... just one more thing for you to control and worry about....
Right now, enjoy the feeling of recent certification, but donīt let the feeling of we are to awesome to improve take over your organization... continous improvement is key !!!

If you google a particular ISO cert you will note that many companies have a copy as a picture or acrobat document for anyone to access right on their website.

Joel, the copies don't have to be controlled. You can distribute them freely. And you can always view any company's certifications on oasis web site.Jim, that is true ONLY for AS9100/9110/9120 certificates. ISO 9001 certificates are NOT in the OASIS database.

We scan in and watermark our certs, any of our customers may request a copy. We then email them and they can download the copy. We do not control these documents. We certainly do track how many people request copies, so we know if it is worth it to have the cert. at all.

Congratulations on your successful certificationWe have had a few customers ask for copiesQuite normal, and as already noted, there is no need to control copies.
In fact, I think it is a good idea to make the cert available for download, and then just provide the link to anyone asking for a copy. I do, and it saves me a lot of hazzle.
