View Full Version : Examples of Process Map for a Transactional Process like Order Entry

Hi,
I am a Black Belt candidate working on improving On-time delivery. Has anyone done a process map for a transactional process like Order Entry, for example? We were trained in the "traditional" manufacturing process where the inputs and outputs of the process steps are fairly obvious. I am working on one and wondered if this path has been traveled?

Thanks for any input.

Hi Neil,
I was not able to download the files, which is unfortunate 'cause it sounds like they would be helpfull. If I give you my email address can you send them to me directly?

The key is really thinking about the process and observing it for yourself.

teh standard things to think about on the input side are skill levels, accuracy of input documents (is the sales order form filled out correctly) availability of instructions, training, time to perform the job, the computer interface, etc.

I would caution that the process map may not be accurate at first pass adn that you may also need Lean approaches in addition to six sigma to improve on time delivery...that's a big project.
