As the 1st poster who actually has something to say:lol:

I'm in St. Louis, MO, May 7-11 at the Ballpark Hilton doing an 18001 Lead Auditor course.

Next week I'm in Ann Arbor, Michigan and I guess I'll get to see db and Cari Spears again (db is ok and Cari is woo-woo)

7th May 2007, 12:20 AM
Anyone traveling through in Texas... look me up.

Randy, next time, I'll take you to my hamburger joint. You won't need any steaksauce on it.

Randy

Have only 1 night in Dallas coming up, June 3. Don't know where I'll be yet, but I'm flying out on the 4th.

Well Randy and I had a good time swapping stories over a little dinner and a couple of beers the other night. We sorely missed db though :( , it was his turn to buy.:tg:

I hope you enjoy your week off, Randy.:bigwave:

Randy
16th May 2007, 12:48 PM
Thanks Cari and due to my error we missed db because I didn't turn my cell phone on and return his call. He actually showed at the hotel and I didn't know it. I really feel bad about that one.

I am very sorry db that I fouled up on this and that you took your time to get together and it didn't happen.

Sounds fishy to me Randy, I think you just wanted to spend time with Cari without any competition from db....:notme:

Randy
16th May 2007, 03:14 PM
Yeah, Cari and I are old war buddies (even though she was a rear echelon puke) and we just wanted to hash over some memories:lol:

It's a "meet a Cover week" in Reston, VA. Seems that Randy and I have met a few fellow Covers lurking in a classroom here this week.... Three have fessed up so far :mg: and there may be a few more hiding in there:notme:

I've been busy this week and just drifting in and out.

As Ann indicated we're spending some time together this week in a QMS Lead Auditor course. Ann is delivering the course for us doing all the work while I get to watch for once and just give her moral support (She doesn't need help, just a meal now and then:lol: )

We've had an excellant week here in Virginia and the group of students (19 of 'em) is really good and motivated (a big plus for Ann).

I just found out another reason to attend my presentation Thursday night:
We are having a golf putting contest before the meeting (PRIZES!)
Here's the email sent to Section members:June 21st Section Meeting: Success Strategies for the Corporate Food Chain:By Marlyn Hyde, Section 1212 Program Chair
Wes Bucey will present our end of the year main attraction.Would you like to find better strategies for dealing with your boss and your employees? A long time member of ASQ from back in the days when it was ASQC, Wes Bucey, will present a MAGICAL experience in helping us learn how we can manage the success of our own corporate or social “food chains” so they can continue to survive and even thrive. Wes makes the point that EVERY link in the chain is important and neglect or abuse of any one link affects ALL the other links.
Wes specializes in making a fun presentation with lots of audience participation. Don’t miss this opportunity to learn more about this critical skill.
Wes was Quality Manager for an aerospace firm with facilities in the USA and France. Previously, he was Chief Operating Officer for a high tech contract machining company serving the aerospace and medical device industry. He is currently writing a book based on case studies of firms he is advising which have reached a crisis point and need help and advice to achieve the next plateau in their development. Wes is a member of both Chicago 1201 and Northeastern Illinois 1212 ASQ Sections.

June 21st Pre-Meeting Clinic: 2nd Annual Golf Putting ContestBy Marlyn Hyde, Section 1212 Program Chair
We’re continuing a new tradition, taking advantage of meeting on the Buffalo Grove golf course for our section meetings. On June 21st, Dave Taylor has arranged for the section to kick off the evening with a putting contest. Just ask to go to the practice green where we will set out a six hole contest.
The green will be open at 5:00 for you early birds. Feel free to do a practice round before your "official" try.
Bring your own putter if you wish or use one provided by the Arboretum club. Balls will be furnished. Prizes galore for the winners and the "hardest working golfer".
Plan to be there to cheer on your ASQ buddies and enjoy the time together. We may even to a bit of data analysis after the golf round. Look forward to seeing you there.

JOIN US FOR OUR NEXT SECTION MEETING!
Don’t miss this presentation at our next section meeting, Thursday, June 21th, 2007 at the Arboretum Club,
401 W. Half Day Rd (Rt. 22 E. of Rt. 83), at Buffalo Grove Road (across from the large Dominiks store),
in Buffalo Grove, IL.
Pre-meeting presentation: 5:30 Dinner: 6:30P.M.Networking: 6:00 – 6:30 P.M. Business Meeting: 7:30 P.M. The meals are $20. If planning to have dinner, you must reserve in advance; please send e-mail to asq1212reservations@yahoo.com (asq1212reservations@yahoo.com) at least 3 days in advance.

I was just in Columbus, IN last weekend, and didn't even think to post here! It's probably just as well, though, since my time there wasn't my own and I was kept pretty busy with helping my best friend as she prepped for her vow renewal/wedding re-enactment ceremony at Brown County State Park....

I will attend at least one day of the Quality (plus other outfits) Expo in Rosemont (about 1/2 mile from O'hare airport.) More days depend on what strikes my fancy.

It is free to attend the Expo - conferences are extra.

I like prowling the Expo booths to look at new products. If you have an opportunity to attend - give me notice and perhaps we can hook up for at least a beverage, if not a meal, to shoot the breeze.

Be sure to let me know if your organization has a booth!

OK - I'll lie for you - what else are friends for? So, if I understand correctly:

When someone asks about your deportment during those meetings we've had during the evening after regular work hours, I am to say you drank ONLY bottled water and only discussed business.

Is this only for wives and IRS agents or for everybody?

Of course I'm nearly immune to heat after living in the Mojave Desert for the better part of 20 years where 110 was considered a cool day this time of year and I was working on a flightline or around armored vehicles.

I have set up a forum for "How to meet a Cover" aka "Dining adventures with fellow Covers". I'd like to close this thread and to entice people to start new threads rather than to continually add to this thread. That might help break out some of the 'specifics' and make it easier for people to follow.

I know better than to ask people to 'schedule' on the Calendar built into vBulletin (tho that might be nice to do).

I'm doing this because I am hoping it might make meeting other 'Covers' easier. I will be doing some traveling myself after almost 5 years of limited travel, so I'll chime in myself. I'd be happy to meet anyone, of course hoping that I can scrounge a free meal...

You comments and suggestions are welcome - Please use this thread: Comments on the Meeting Other Elsmar Covers (http://elsmar.com/Forums/showthread.php?t=25589)

I am closing this thread and will 'make a start' with a post on my schedule from which you can consider for giving me your ideas and advice on form, content and other aspects of threads (in the thread linked to above).
