View Full Version : What is IMDS? Does Any kind of other thing other then four wheel manufacturing? sushant_kulkarni 8th May 2007, 05:46 AM WHile doing my PPAP study I have found one of the thing like Reporting of parts material composition with IMDS( as customerised) tyker 8th May 2007, 06:22 AM http://www.mdsystem.com/index.jsp I don't fully understand your question but if you go into the public pages on the above link there is a lot of information about IMDS including FAQs, training, subscribers and the like. sushant_kulkarni 8th May 2007, 07:23 AM IMDS is fully concern with four wheel manufacturing biggies Manix 8th May 2007, 07:42 AM IMDS is fully concern with four wheel manufacturing biggies I too am somewhat confused as to what your question is? If you manufacture wheels for an Automotive OEM, then it is highly probable that you need to meet with your customers IMDS requirements. In fact if you manufacture anything for an Automotive OEM and you are submitting a PPAP, you will almost definitely have to complete an IMDS submission. The methods and level of detail required vary from customer to customer, so you should check with your customer first as to exactly what they require. They should publish some sort of guide which would be available directly from them OR on the IMDS public pages. If you are referring to trucks, then you would need to check with the customer as to the requirements. Some truck companies do require it, but others do not, as they are not legally obliged to confirm compliance to the ELV (End of Life of Vehicles) directive (A European directive restricting the use of hazardous materials in vehicles and setting targets for vehicle recycling). All in all, ask your customer what their requirements are. |
