The only way to find out for sure what it means is to ask the customer. (I don't know what "PCN" is, either :D)

harry 20th May 2007, 11:54 PM Also let us know what industry you are in and what exactly that product is because such terms have different meaning in different industries and/or product.
It can mean 'capacitance-voltage' characteristic in the electrical/electronic industry.

Our company produce capacitor.
The complete clause in Quality agreement is:
Any and all modifications of the product shall be documented in a product CV.
Does 'capacitance-voltage' be appropriate?
harry 21st May 2007, 12:38 AM I am no expert in this field. But knowing that CV curves are used to determine insulating properties of materials, perhaps the client wants to make sure that insulating properties remain the same when you change design or other parameters. That's the reason for them to insist that you submit such data when changes are made.
Lets wait for the more knowledgeable covers to comment.
Why not consult your seniors in the factory. As a manufacturer, somebody should know better than any of us here.

Nope - 'capacitance-voltage' would probably be a product characteristic.
They're *Probably* a product development / life file or configuration management file. I have no idea what CV would stand for, though.
fireonce 21st May 2007, 01:01 AM I think it may be Curriculum Vitae, and = PCN
Bev D 21st May 2007, 02:00 PM I think it means puff the magic dragon! (sorry, just saw Peter, Paul and Mary again!)
ask your customer..it doesnt' matter what we think. it matters what your customer means.

Using logic and checking the internet, i´d have to agree with fireonce.... it´s a curriculum vitae for the product.... any changes made to it´s manufacturing process, product characteristics or anything else related should be update in it´s product CV....
but when in doubt, ask the customer... nobody is born knowing everything, so when in doubt ask...
Beiquan 21st May 2007, 08:50 PM Thanks for your supporting!
I asked my customer yesterday , now I waiting for his reply...

Frank T. 21st May 2007, 09:14 PM I to want to know what it means....
My thoughts were some sort of Product Characteristic Verification form.
But, hey when in doubt ask the customer.

What an interesting way to use the language. Definitely not an Englishman.

According to Wikipedia.......
A résumé, also known as a curriculum vitae (CV), is a document containing a summary or listing of relevant job experience and education, usually for the purpose of obtaining an interview when seeking employment. Often the résumé or CV is the first item that a potential employer encounters regarding the job seeker, and therefore a large amount of importance is often ascribed to it.
I can imagine that your customer may be looking for a history of the product; from the initial design/development to actual implementation and possible service/repair history....
I have never heard the term CV in this context and I may be way off base....
Just "guessing."
I am curious what you can find out about it.
Greetings.

Ask him for a sample so you can adapt your product to his document...
We can all exercise our brains and come up with a ton of "neat" suggestions, but it may not be what your CLIENT wants...
