Hi. I am searching for a formal definition / mathematical formulas for the gage R&R proccess to put on my master's thesis.

I haven't found it exactly formulated on internet, just some application here and there, in some spreadsheet examples. Where can I find these formal definitions?

Thanks.

Hi and Welcome to the Cove,

I would suggest gaining access to the MSA manual 3rd edition, which is available via the AIAG and many other standards organisations.

You can access this link for info:

https://mows.aiag.org/source/Orders/index.cfm?task=3&CATEGORY=THEG&PRODUCT_TYPE=SALES&SKU=MSA-3&DESCRIPTION=Truck%20and%20Heavy%20Equipment%20Group&FindSpec=&CFTOKEN=61621420&continue=1&SEARCH_TYPE=find

Most people have the manual, but copyright prevents us publishing it here!

There are many threads that deal with this, but the manual is the authority and is all in one place, plus you should make sure you check out the errata page on the AIAG's website, as there are quite a few corrections that need to be considered, (trust me I spent hours trying to figure something out that seemed incorrect, and it turned out I was right!!!!)

forgive me for being a bit snippy today, but if you're working on your thesis shouldn't they have taught you how to do a literature search? maybe things have changed since I went to university. I hope that the beer is still cold!

I highly recommend the Donald Wheeler books. He also has the 3rd edition of Evaluating the Measurement Process out. Another good resource from Wheeler is in this post (http://elsmar.com/Forums/showthread.php?t=20476&highlight=wheeler).

Try searching this forum. There is a lot of good discussion on Gage R&R studies.
