Hi,

I was wondering if anybody can help me understand the differences and similarities of these two standards.

Any type of help is very much appreciated.

Thank you

George

From the previous question...............

What is the difference between ISO 10012:2003 and ISO 17025:2005?

Again your help is most appreciated.

ISO 10012 is simply for normal methods of handling calibrated equipment while ISO 17025 is for the accreditation of calibrating / tetsing laboratory..

Thanks for the clarification but im still confused on when to use what. There is 3 standards that are usually used for calibration: ANSI/NCSL Z540-1, ISO 17025 and ISO 10012. They look very similar but apparently their is some major differences.

Does anybody know their differences and which standard is appropriate for which organization?

Any type of clarification will be very much appreciated

George

Search for website hartscientific and ANSI/NCSL Z540 to find a comparison article that pretty much covers everything!

Just trying to help! I am aware that the request was made over a year ago for the info, but I just became a Forum member this week and wasn't here to help before...

First, welcome to the Cove!! We are certainly glad to have you!!:bigwave:

Second, any thread (if not closed), large or small, old or new, is open for discussion and input. True, while the original poster posted a year ago, each thread becomes a point of information and interest. People accurately using the search function can find all kinds of information to help them with their query (and yes, they do come here a lot looking for information).

I for one appreciate the information you provided.

However you feel you can assist, join in! We would love to have you.

Again, welcome.:)

Here's the link that I do believe purplehatjoan was referring to: http://www.hartscientific.com/publications/17025.htm

I have the same question as Geroge361. Is ISO 10012 : 2003 the same as ANSI/NCSL Z540-1-1994? If I comply with the Z540 do I comply with 10012? The site that was referenced was very interesting but did not address 10012. Did 17025 replace 10012?

Thanks for any help.

Have a look at the 10012 abstract on the ISO website (http://www.iso.org/iso/catalogue_detail?csnumber=26033).
