View Full Version : Secured a new job.
jane_ackerman 8th June 2007, 02:21 PM After a lengthy discussion on here about resumes, I just wanted to let everyone who knew my situation (company closing June 29), know that I secured a new job - even better than my current job.
Shh... don't tell Icy Mountain that I got it with a 2 page resume and 1 interview. ;)
Thanks again for all your input on the previous thread!

Cari Spears 8th June 2007, 03:41 PM That's great! Congratulations.
Kevin H 8th June 2007, 04:16 PM Jane,
Congratulations, and best wishes in the new position.
BradM 8th June 2007, 04:22 PM Jane,
Congratulations. You're light-hearted, fun gesture about the two-page resume does bring into light how darn difficult it is helping with job-related matters.
I would tend to be as adamant as Icy to keep to one page. However, you scored with two. You probably would not have been interviewed with me or Icy. However, Jim may have granted an interview, but not thrilled about your two-pages. But then you impress them, and they overlook it. Wes might hire you on the spot. Etc. My point: there is a lot of subjectivity in the process.
It just stresses the difficulty in helping people with job stuff. Hence, a big thanks goes to the Covers that spend their time helping on things like this.

Back to the ranch...
Jane, truly, congrats. You did something that you should be proud of. Have a good weekend.
Jennifer Kirley 8th June 2007, 04:43 PM Congratulations Jane! :applause:
What a great way to start the weekend. Enjoy the feeling, and enjoy your new adventure! :rar:
Wes Bucey 8th June 2007, 06:19 PM Great news!
When you get time, we'd like to hear the style and direction the interview took. Once folks get past the gatekeeper, they still have to ace the interview and I'm not sure we have covered that step in depth here in the Cove.
Claes Gefvenberg 8th June 2007, 06:34 PM Congratulations, Jane. :agree:

Actually, it was what I would call a good old fashion interview. None of the strange (now typical) brain teaser questions. Simply to the point.
It lasted about 1.5 hrs and I had the offer the following day.
CHRSCLLNGS 12th June 2007, 11:52 AM Well done and good luck

Icy Mountain 12th June 2007, 11:59 AM Shh... don't tell Icy Mountain that I got it with a 2 page resume and 1 interview. ;)JaneI heard that!

However, Jim may have granted an interview, but not thrilled about your two-pagesGiven what I know is on the two pages, I probably would have interviewed Jane. I just would have asked a million questions to make sure that I wasn't getting a quality person that couldn't condense a ton of raw data into a Pareto summary.:lmao:
Seriously, congratulations Jane!!!
Manix 12th June 2007, 12:11 PM First CHRSCLLNGS now you Jane, everyone's getting a new job!

I am just about to move into a new house, so a new job is the last thing on my mind!!!!!

I wish I didn't have to get a new job, 1 building of my plant closed May 30 (200 employees) and my building will be closed June 29 - not much of a choice, but it all worked out. What I got is even better than what I have - God is awesome!
Tupham 12th June 2007, 07:23 PM Well done, Jane. Good luck in your new position! :)
