My employer is ISO 9001:2000 certified and plans on becoming TS 16949 compliant by Jan. 2008 and TS 16949 certified by June 2008. What are the minimum requirements to become TS 16949 compliant? Any and all information given will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for the help!!

That question doesn't really have a simple answer. To state you were compliant to the standard would actually mean you comply with all the requirements of the standard. Your customer would probably want some assurance of compliance and may ask for a statement of compliance from a 3rd party or may schedule a 2nd party audit.
Many companies who may not be certified to 16949 make the statement that they are compliant with it. This probably, in most cases, means they have procedures in place for some or most of the requirements. They don't intend to be certified but they can handle PPAPs and other automotive requirements. In a technical sense, they shouldn't be making such a claim unless they can document their compliance and then we are back to all the requirements of the standard. There is no allowance made for partial compliance therefore there is no minimum.
I think I would approach your transition by doing a gap analysis between your current ISO system and the 16949 system you are working toward. There are a lot of gap analysis worksheets here on the Cove that could be a great help to you. Determine what you have and what you still need then start filling in the gaps with procedures and processes to address them. Once you have done that, audit the system for effectiveness etc.. Your system should be ready for your 2008 certification and although there would be no 2nd or 3rd party documentation, your system could be considered compliant to TS16949.

For an ISO9001, yes maybe a minium compliance could be reached, I mearn just pass certification. In fact ISO also persue a continual improveement.
But for TS , a just pass certification is not deserved to do. Because a system of focus customer and continual to meet customer requirement, and making staff competence in organizaton has been established and in operation. So minium is to satisfy your customer requirement maybe is practise if your comapany just in position several tires. But if your comapny listed in tire 1 or 2 , minium is all requirement of customer requirement, it equels to all TS requirements.
