View Full Version : Sampling Plan Software Packages - Implementing ANSI Z1.4 & Z1.9 (or ISO equivalent)

Hello All,:bigwave:

I been doing some searching on this forum, and I have not been able to find much information on this topic.

My company (about 200 employees) is looking at implementing ANSI Z1.4 & Z1.9 (or ISO equivelant). We would like to also utilize the switching rules as well. Due to the vast requirement of information to keep track of and the number of products (in the 1000's) and number of suppliers (in the dozen's) we are hoping to find a software package that will do this.

Are there off the shelf packages that will conform to the ANSI or ISO sampling plans? From what I have seen on the forum, it is mostly Excel and custom made packages that companies are using.

Do any of you use of the shelf software packages for these sampling plans? If so, which ones and what are your opinions on them?

I will continue to search the internet, but I would appreciate any comments and inputs you might have.

Thanks in advance,
Casey

Hello,

Anybody out there using sampling software? If so, what do you use?

Or do you just use excel, or something similar?

Thanks,
CZ

CZ,

I'm not familiar with any software that implements and tracks sampling plans according to different AQL, history of bad lots, etc. I have only done smaller sampling where it was easy to track with the hardcopy version of Z1.4.

For the most part, I think sampling should only be done as a very rough level of QC. If you want to make sure that only 1% is bad rather than 2%, attribute sampling like Z1.4 will not work effectively. If you want to catch lots with 20% defective instead of 1%, then sampling a great idea.

For the most plat, the lot size has little effect required sample size for a given chance accept good lots and reject bad lots. You might be able to simplify the sampling procedures so you don't need to have so many different plans.
