View Full Version : Are there any other relevant Documents/Standards about RoHS apart from IEC QC 080000

Hello:

I am reading about QC 08000, 2nd edition. This is the IEC Quality Assessment System for Electronic Components (IECQ) - Electrical and Electronic Components and Products - Hazardous Substance Process Management System Requirements (HSPM).

What other documents are out there that may provide me with information and reference points to consider when designing and implementing a managment system for hazardous substances?

Also, I am interested to know about the history of the documents, their level of acceptance, and any info on the conformity assessment schemes around the document.

Thank you,

Dirk

Anybody familair with any management system structures, documents or standards related to the control of the restriction of hazardous substances?

Is QC 080000 the only one?

Thank you,

Dirk

The thread title may be a little misleading. I am looking for documents that describe a management system for RoHS.

I am not looking for documents that would be included IN a management system for RoHS. And I am already familiar with QC 080000. I am looking for other related or similar documents / standards about RoHS management systems.

Thank you,

Dirk

Hi Dirk,

QC 080000 is a standard similar to ISO 9001. By a 'management system', do you mean also softwares that help to manage RoHS issues like tracking changes, updating databases and related Bill of materials, etc, etc?

I am looking for standards or standard like documents that describe what are or what may be good structures for the management of RoHS.

I am lookig for something like ISO 9001 but specific to RoHS.

I am not looking for info on the laws or specific tools. I am wondering if there are other standards similar to QC 080000 that may help us understand what may be appropriate for an effective RoHS management system.

Thank you,

Dirk

Hi Dirk,

The only standard to register to right now is the QC 080000 standard. Other companies are implementing RoHS and WEEE through the European Union directives, and either getting second party or first party declarations; but the only way to register to a standard is to go with QC 080000.

I was the original Lead Auditor for the first QC registration in the world - contact me if you want to walk through the process.

Hello Mary:

Thank you for the posting.

However, I am not interested in certification, registrration, etc. I am only looking for things to read and consider when designing and implementing processes for an effective system related to RoHS.

I am looking for as many references as I can find so I can read it and then say, "Oh, that is a good idea. We should consider a process for XXXX."

My organization is ISO 14001 certified. We are complaint to both the EU and China RoHS directives. We are now cconsidering the impacts of the Korean directive that will be in place Jan 1., 2008. We get at least one 10 page RoHS survey from a customer every month. We use those surveys as reference points as to what may be important in addressing RoHS. I was hoping to find more managment system documents that discuss RoHS from a systems persepective.

Thank you,

Dirk
