I'm making a API-Q1 manual from an existing 9001 manual. From the sample Q1 i have I see the addition of "control features" for almost every clause.

How is a control feature different from a record? Or is it the same and Q1 requires the record where as ISO only suggests.

Ugh baffled. Probably shouldn't be posting at 5PM on a friday, thanks for any help.

The definition in the ISO/TS 29001:2003 document for control feature is:
...organization's documented method to perform an activity under controlled conditions to achieve conformity to specified requirements... So, it seems to me that control feature would equate to work instructions, process instructions, procedures, etc., not records.

You may refer to 3.1.4 of ISO / TS 29001: 2007 for a definition of Control feature:
"organization’s documented method to perform an activity under controlled conditions to achieve conformity to specified requirements"

Typically, the auditors look for a documented quality system procedure / work instruction. The latest Spec Q1 requires about 17 control features to be addressed in the API Specific Quality manual

A sample based on the 2003 version is already available in the forum. You will have to make amends to suit it to the 2007 requirements
