DFARS is some times called buy American. It contains about 17 specific sections, over 90 sub-sections and countless sub-sub-sections addressing federal requirements related to Contracts, Socioeconomic Programs, Foreign Acquisitions, Bonds, Insurance, Taxes, Labour Laws, Materials Content, etc.

Most organizations find that their customers PO will make reference to a requirement to supply DFARS compliant material but will not list the DFARS number. Usually they are requiring conformity for any metal being used must meet 252.225.7014 requirements.

A customers blanket use of "materials must be DFARS compliant" is really to broad of a requirement and you should request that they state the specific DFARS numbers so that you can supply the correct product per the specific DFARS requirement.
