View Full Version : Flammability of medical textile - any relevant standards? cochranemurray 21st August 2007, 09:33 AM Are there any ISO or BSEN standards specific to flammability of medical textiles ? GStough 21st August 2007, 09:46 AM Are there any ISO or BSEN standards specific to flammability of medical textiles ? Do these medical textiles enter the US? If so, there is the CPSC (Consumer Product Safety Commission) which has flammability standards or requirements, if I'm not mistaken. In my previous life, the company manufactured children's sleepwear for hospitals and was required to perform flammability testing on every lot produced. Similar requirements may exist for medical textiles, as well. As for ISO or BSEN standards, I will have to allow someone here with more experience in this area address your question. I'm not sure if this was helpful, but I hope so. Perhaps someone else here may be able to offer more guidance. :) Ajit Basrur 21st August 2007, 09:55 AM Are there any ISO or BSEN standards specific to flammability of medical textiles ? Not sure for medical textiles but there are couple of references for various types of fabrics - http://www.awta.com.au/textiles/Publications/Advisory_Notes/FLAMTEST.htm |
