What, if anything:cool:, are you doing for new employees? We currently do an orientation that last approx. 6-7 hrs. covering: Benefits, safety, ISO14000, TS16949 and HR related items. Alot of information is given in a relatively short period of time. I wonder how much they actually retain:mg:
Just curious to find out what/ how other companies do it. Ours seems to be getting stale,, need some fresh ideas!

Why don't you ask them how much they retain? Give 'em a short quiz about 10 days later.
You'll find it's about 10% - 25%.

Our initial orientation is about 6 hours total, I'm going to make an educated guess at the breakdown as I've never really times it:
2 hours watching safety training videos and listening to the EHS manager talk about stuff not covered on the videos.
2 hours with HR going over the employee handbook, reviewing company policies and filling out papers.
1 hour sitting with department manager or supervisor getting a briefing on ISO9000, CE marking, CAPA, Quality Policy, interactions between departments, and what the job actually entails.
1 hour on a tour of the whole facility, reviewing the workstation, and learning the traceability bar code system.

They'll remember how to clock in, when breaks and lunch are, complain and file for workers comp.
