I understand that Section 7.3.1 of the AS9100 Standard is requiring some sort of plan (or instruction) for Design processes.

There is an AS requirements (at the end of this section)-
"The differenct design and development tasks to be carried out shall be defined according to specified safety or functional objectives of the product in accordance with customer and/or regulatory authority requirements."
Which I do not understand. Can someone explain it for me? or maybe offer an example?

This is a check at the planning stage to ensure that the design and development activity actually addressed the entire customer contract and the regulatory (law) requirements plus this aerospace addition highlights safety and functional objectives of the product.

This information must become part of the upfront activity related to the design and development of a product for its intended application. Example: If the customer is ordering pressure vessels (tanks) for oxygen supply system these vessels must meet all the requirements stated in the PO and all FAA and/or DOT regulatory requirements for pressure vessels on aircrafts.

Hope this simple answer helps

Dear All,

In clause 7.3.1, what is the meaning of "Planning constraint".
The complete requirement is as follows:

For each element, analyzing the tasks and the necessary resources for its design and development. This analysis shall consider and identified responsible person, design content, input data, "Planning Constraint", and performance conditions. The input data specific to each element shall be reviewed to ensure consistency with requirements".

Can you help me in understanding.

Regards

Ajay
