View Full Version : Corrective Actions Database in Access
maotao 10th October 2007, 10:54 PM Hello
Can anyone point me to a good access database that I can use for my corective actions ?
I read the forum and I see that many users are using access.
Thanks
harry 10th October 2007, 11:47 PM Welcome Maotao.
Just a bit of clarification - are you looking for a database that contain the various corrective actions that people made over time? One that you can get some ideas while coming out or formulating your own corrective actions?
Sunday 11th October 2007, 01:02 PM Sunday Business Systems (the company I work for) makes affordable and effective corrective action database tools. Check out the links in my profile for a powerpoint presentation and free demo downloads.
Hope this helps.
alexoigres 16th October 2007, 09:14 AM Hello everybody
this is my first poste in this forum, I've been reading a lot of your comments and all of them are fantastic.
Right now I am in the same situation than Maotao, I'm looking for a Corrective Action Database in Access, to keepack of my corrective actions in a better way. I saw on file in one of this threats but its READ ONLY : (
I would like to see if someone can share one and i can used as a template.
Thank you
Alex
this is where I found the file: A Simple CA (Corrective Action) Database (http://elsmar.com/Forums/showthread.php?t=7305)
Andy Nutt 16th October 2007, 02:22 PM Here is one.

All,
I don't have a good tutorial for Access. A free forum website I found that was very helpful to me as I was learning Access is

Patricia Ravanello 18th July 2008, 12:51 AM There are some incredibly inventive, effective and efficient databases posted here, and it's great that people can share their knowledge and expertise.
I, too, have created an Action Item Database which tracks Corrective, Preventive and Continual Improvement Actions, and have posted some of the screen views below. It's very helpful at audit time when auditors ask questions like, "What Continual Improvement initiatives has the company undertaken since the last audit?"... You just pop up the database and output the Report that filters and lists all your action items by CA/PA or CI. Or "What is your Cost of Quality?" (see attachment 3) ... Senior Managers love it.
Attachment 1 - Action Item Database Switchboard illustrates the data entry page for Corrective Actions.
Attachment 2 - As with the others posted here, the database generates a record of the individual Action item.
The other attachments are fairly self-explanatory, and are just Reports or Charts generated from the database. There are countless different ways of sorting and presenting the data.
While I can't post the actual database, I am sure these files can tremendously help someone wanting to create their own database.

Raffy 24th September 2008, 12:45 AM Hi tony,
Is it possible to save the CPAR.mdb in Access 97, I cannot open the file, it says "Unrecognized format".
We are still using the Access 97 database, there are several limitations but it can be utilized.
Thank you very much in advance for the usual prompt attentiion you will give in this request.
Best regards,
Raffy

tony s 24th September 2008, 07:33 AM Hi Raffy,
I used a 2003 version for this CPAR database. Fortunately, it has a feature to convert current versions to 97 versions. So, here's the converted database.;)
Raffy 25th September 2008, 06:42 AM Hi Tony s,:thanks:
Thank you very much for the CPAR Database. We were not lucky enough to have the latest version of Access.:frust:
Thank you so much.:thanx:

Not speaking for Patricia, but many of us consultants/trainers make a living developing tools that we do not mind sharing to a certain extent, but giving everything away would put us out of business real quick.
Hope this makes sense.

Ciao Antarctic,
Welcome to the Elsmar Cove and thank you for your comments. I may be able to help you...Are you familiar with Microsoft Access? Do you know how to edit tables and create reports?

Ciao Patrizia :)
i know a very little bit of access, btw i've found many other RAC databases in the Cove and i'll try to use it just to learn how Access works. When i will ready i'll ask your help, be sure! :D Many thanks.
Stijloor i agree with your comment, i just asked.. :agree1:

Bob the QE 23rd October 2008, 06:20 PM Just a view from a different and less costly (maybe) arena. If you have someone who enjoys working in the excel world, I have had quite a bit of success utilizing conditional formatting and validation rules to make a nice cheap but effective manual CA spreadsheet. Down side and it is a down side if you are large company even if you have an excel person. It is very hard if not almost difficult to link to other IT or MRP systems so you have to use manual monitoring. But it does work and works very nicely, I am just getting used to MS2007.
If interested I can provide a limited skeleton (if that doesn't violate cove rules)
Good luck
Jennifer Kirley 31st October 2008, 03:22 PM Bob, we would love to see anything you can share that is not copyright or trademark protected, or does not violate your company's confidentialty protocols. :agree1:
Bob the QE 31st October 2008, 04:35 PM Here you go, I think I removed all references to protect those who are innocent (until the CA goes past due). Enjoy and do not blame if your frustration levels go up playing with it, I know mine did, but I am fine now.:bigwave:

Ciao, prova questo è un pò datato (access 2 convertito in access 97) ma è scritto in italiano
ps. allego piu avanti lo stesso database non protetto da file di gruppo di lavoro ma solo da pw (inserire solo per utente:user e password:user. purtroppo non mi ero accordo di aver inviato un file protetto e non sono riuscito a sproteggere o sostituire quello inviato.
Bob the QE 31st October 2008, 05:53 PM This is not an access program ( you could inport into access) but as I offered it is a cheap excel program using condition formatting and validation rules to indicate stutus and track stats.
Good luck
Jennifer Kirley 31st October 2008, 05:59 PM All are welcome. I am one who would like a nice Access database, but am nearly clueless about how to make one. In Excel I am okay, however. I like the one you attached, thank you for it. Right now I am interested in a tool to handle multiple auditors over several sites.

Try this, it's a bit older but in italian.
Then he has attached a second DB because the first is pw protected.
Thank you Cavanna, it's very nice, you given a good idea to me. Trace audits->improvement plan->corrective actions, good good.

Hi Evangeline and welcome...
I have not posted a database to this thread, only some PDF files which show screenshots of my Action Item Database.
I think you must be referring to Cavanna's database. I've converted it to a 2002 version for you...perhaps you will be able to open it.
Cavanna had written in italian, (very) roughly translated:
Hello, I'm sorry, but this database is a bit dated (originally written in Access 97 and converted) and also, it is written it italian.
P.S.: I have enclosed the same database with files which were password protected to limit access to the working group. The User Name (Nome Utente) you must enter is "User", and the Password is also "User".
After entering the Passwords, you need to hit the "Conferma" button to open the database.
Hope this helps,
Patricia

Ciao Cavanna,
Your database is very well designed. I haven't actually seen any Access Databases for managing Audit Records.
The samples I attached earlier only reflect Corrective Actions which were initiated subsequent to Internal or External audits, or Management Review, etc.
Do your auditors carry laptop computers with them during the audit, or do they post the data to your database after the audit?
Thanks for sharing the database with everyone.
Patrizia
Ettore 6th November 2008, 03:56 PM The database that i have posted is out of service from about the 1994, it is a translation of access 2, I never used it in access 97. We have other similar database for manage Document and Instrument but all out of service.
Ours auditors write down all the evidence in a form. At the end of the audit they give us the forms that are usually archived in pdf. For managed all QS activity now I'm using an intranet that was wrote down using "bloc notes" for documents control (asp), and a single database for the other processes that can give information from SAP or others applications
