I just received a letter from our registrar stating that ISO9001 has been updated to ISO9001;2000 and we need to comply by our next audit. Where can I find the ISO9001;2000 standard? I've looked and no success. Help.

Unless your next audit is in the year 2001 you may have misunderstood what your registrar told you. ISO-9000:2000 has not been approved as an official standard and is not expected to be accepted until the last quarter of the year 2000. I suspect that companies will be given at least 6 months to a year to upgrade their systems. Unless this is a requirement that is unique to your registrar, I dont know of any reputable registrar that is requiring their customer to upgrade now. I'd check again with your customer rep.

I know that some registrars will start performing audits to the DIS version of ISO9001:2000. HOWEVER, the findings given to this standard will not be binding. This is, more or less, a opportunity for the auditee to see where they stand with respect to the updated standard. I agree with Christian that if your registrar wants you to "officially" update your system to DIS version, then you need to ask them some hard questions! (What I mentioned above is more of a customer service approach.)

absolutely.....its a service some registrars are doing, also helps bring the auditors up to speed in standard interpretations and familiarity since the format is changing. But should be observations for FYI....as Christian says
