Does anyone know why Nadcap has made AMS2750 a requirement for ovens that cure paint/dri-lubes?

View Full Version : Why has Nadcap made AMS2750 a requirement for paint/dri-lubes cure ovens? gfox.quality 23rd October 2007, 03:19 PM Does anyone know why Nadcap has made AMS2750 a requirement for ovens that cure paint/dri-lubes? Benjamin28 23rd October 2007, 03:44 PM I might be mistaken, but hasn't compliance to AMS 2750 been a long time Nadcap requirement for curing ovens? gfox.quality 23rd October 2007, 03:48 PM Only for embrittlement relief/stress relief ovens but not for paint curing ovens. BradM 23rd October 2007, 05:11 PM Well.. I shall set aside my Soap Box regarding NADCAP.:soap: I would think that the classification for the curing oven would come from additional specifications from your customers, including the specific process. Is that all they are citing, just AMS 2750? Also, don't I remember that survey being an initial survey only in the 2750 table? gfox.quality 24th October 2007, 11:38 AM Yes. Nadcap is calling the AMS 2750 - Pyrometry, "The base line requirement." And I can't see the rationale of a specification that is designed and "stated" that it is for "heat treating" as a base line for paint curing ovens. BradM 24th October 2007, 12:21 PM Ok, called a friend who was consulting in this. He got out of it due to NADCAP. Did I already mention my :soap:? Hopefully you have the latest Revision D. 2750 is a how-to specification on pyrometry. It does not specify the processes requiring the survey/pyrometry specs. However.... As I mentioned previously, your customer (Boeing?) may have a specification for your process that calls out 2750. The NADCAP auditor should be citing the specific process specification, not AMS 2750. If the specific process calls out 2750, then you will probably have to do a survey. Hopefully, it will just be an initial survey only; especially if you have sufficient monitoring equipment. Also, if it's fuel cell coatings/ other processes, you may have additional requirements like Temp/RH monitoring, and increased recording of refrigerators/freezers. |
