As I know, there are the following related clauses in the international standards:
5.2 Customer focus
7.2.1 Determination of requirements related to the product
7.2.2 Review of requirements related to the product
7.2.3 Customer communication
8.2 Monitoring and measurement
8.2.1 Customer satisfaction
I don’t use determination but management, because I think it is not sufficient to use determination or review.
And I think customer’s needs does not equal the customer’s requirements and does not equal the product’s requirements. Do you think so?
Hi, everyone!
Looking forward to seeing your posts! Thanks!:D:tg:

I enjoyed your cartoon. On a serious side, in my opinion they aren't the same.
The customer requirements are like having a ticket to get in to see a movie. We all know how to stand in line and how much a ticket costs.
The customer needs are very project specific. You can understand all of the customers requirements but may not be able to fulfill their needs on all projects.
I think suppliers often understand the customer requirements but fall short on truly understanding needs.:agree1:

I think we are heading in a similar direction to your other post:

The customer requirements are perhaps different to their needs, but it all comes down to definition. Are requirements just those stated?
Also, what if a customer is very through and has taken to the time to truly know what they NEED? Therefore they state everything they need (are these not requirements of the customer?!).
Great cartoon Yew Jin!

I think that REQUIREMENT is stated need with language by customer.
But NEED is different from it, it exist in customer's body originally. We study language firstly, then we could express our need with language, and the language ability is different between the different customers. So the organization shall be professional to understand the customer's needs.:)
