Ted,

I believe that you have to post 5 times before you can post/insert links. Is that correct?

Malak,

The jpg images are difficult to read. Any chance to convert these to another image format that's better to read/decipher?

Stijloor,

Any chance you can remove your quote with the jpg replica? That's a lot of scrolling for Cove members.

After many posts, we now have the actual case study including the assignment that you are supposed to complete.

Malak,

Do you have a specific question about this case study?
What have you completed so far and what specifically are you struggling with?

I hope that you're not expecting us to do ALL the work for you. :)

Let us know.

Yes it is correct.I tried to post a link today which was denied!

So,what an easy way to beat this rule!! Just post anything five times, and you are through!?!

Then what is the big idea behind creating this rule which is obstructive. If security is the only cocern, then Malak has amply demonstrated its uselessness.Everyone on the cove had to waste time, guiding and waiting for his attachment, and how much frustrated Malak appeared. :mg:

I humbly suggest that this rule should be rescinded, unless of course there are some valid reasons to retain it. :2cents:

We have valid reasons to maintain this rule. The amount of spam that does get posted today is very small for a forum with so many users, and so much activity, as the Cove. As a general rule very, very few new participants have a reason to post an active link in one of their first 5 posts, and these posts give the moderators a chance to get a sense of what the new participants are going to contribute - be that good or bad. :bigwave:

This is interesting. In his welcome note to every registered user, Marc specifically mentioned: 'Contact me if you have any problems'. This message is also widely dispersed in the 'How to use the forum software' section and also the FAQ where all new users are encouraged to read. Various threads on this is also there. Many read these and contact him when they have problems.

This rule applies only to 'live' links. You can always post an inactive one such as: abc(dot)com

In addition to Harry's advice to contact Marc if you have any forum issues, the 5-post rule has proven useful in trapping spammers because often someone sees the first 2-3 three pointless posts ("Great site, thanks!") and intercedes, either by reporting the one of the posts, or by Marc or a moderator stepping in. Quite often, I suspect, the rule itself serves as a useful deterrent to spammers because it tells them that we're watching for them, and rather than wasting time with five posts and just getting nailed anyway, they go elsewhere.

This is a great rule! We like it. Keeps the spam crap away and this great forum clean.

Step back a moment before charting the data further. Recognize that the data are being influenced by the settings of the operator.

I'd suggest looking up and reviewing Dr. Deming's "Funnel Experiment". This sounds like a classic example of tampering with the product setting.

I'll make the following prediction - you may find if you think through the logic that the operator would be better off NOT TOUCHING THE SETTING rather than trying to keep chasing the latest results.
