Hello all.
Today the company I work for has a consultant here reviewing our compliance to AS9100 Rev B. In reviewing our Quality Objective's metrics he mentioned that in Rev C their will be a requirement for measuring quality of product and we should start thinking about implementing it to get ahead of the ball.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to measure this metric? Is anyone measuring this now?

B of AS9100 § 7.1 already states: In planning product realization, the organization shall determine the following, as appropriate:
a) quality objectives and requirements for the product;
What the draft of Rev.C brings is a note, which states
In planning product realization, the organization shall determine the following, as appropriate:
a) quality objectives and requirements for the product;
NOTE Quality objectives and requirements for the product include consideration of aspects such as
− product and personnel safety,
− reliability, availability, maintainability,
− producibility, inspectability,
− suitability of parts and materials used in the product,
− selection and development of the software that contributes to the function of the product, and
− disposal of the product at the end of its life.

Thank you gentleman.
Percent rejected, first pass yields, and customer returns are all metrics we currently measure. So do you think we would satisfy the requirement of the new Rev C with making a statement in our Objectives like,
Quality of Product shall be measured by First Pass Yields xx%, Amount of Products Rejected xx%, and Customer Returns xx%

It may be an easier path to add consideration of the six aspects to your planning process.
The measurements you mention are great for confirming the quality of the product but I don't think they address the note Sidney quoted. I think in this instance they are looking at initial planning.
