View Full Version : 2007 ASQ (American Society for Quality) Salary Survey - Figure 1 on page 31

I just got my latest issue of Quality Progress.

I'm not getting something. Figure 1 on page 31.
It shows percentage of respondants and cost of living by state.
I'm not clear on what "percentage of respondants" means.
I'm assuming it should mean the portion of people responding from that state over the total responding from all state (or the world)
But If you add up the percentages you're way over 100.

Wisconsin, Illinois, and Pennsylvania alone = 147%

Sure there's a disclaimer that says "percentages might not equal 100% due to rounding" but I'm scratching my head here.

A quick perusal of the graphic to which you refer leads me to believe the problem is merely one of a dropped decimal point, which would make each of the statistics you cite only one tenth of the figure shown.

The big 2007 ASQ Salary Survey surprise!

The person who claims to make the most money as a consultant ($675,000) has no Six Sigma training and no ASQ certification!

and as easy as that I get 100.1% when I took the time to add them all up with the correction.

I haven't been to the ASQ member forum in a year or more.
Never got much value out of it once I found this joint.

Well . . . that's MY reason for contributing in either ASQ or Elsmar..

Wes, You just didn't read the whole article.
He only makes $5000 as a consultant, and the rest is from the two gas stations he owns. :biglaugh:

"How much did you make for your first night?"
"$36.25"
"What miserable S.O.B. gave you only a quarter?"
"All of them!";)
