Hi guys,

I know i am just a newbie but I intend to spend a lot of my time in 2008 and beyond....

Thanks for making me feel welcome and I hope i can participate and learn from you all.

Some Irish greetings:

'Nollaig shona duit!' Happy Christmas!
'Nollaig faoi shéan is faoi shonas duit.' A prosperous and happy Christmas to you.

May peace and plenty be the first to lift the latch on your door, and happiness be guided to your home by the candle of Christmas.

The Irish word for Christmas is Nollaig which comes from the Latin word natalica meaning birthday.

“Quality means doing it right when no one is looking.”

Indeed a Merry Christmas to all of you here at the Cove, over this past year I've learned a great deal from the lot of you and I certainly appreciate all of it. Hope each of you is having a great holiday season and will have a wonderful Christmas Holiday. For those of you traveling, wishing you clear highways, delay free flights, and safe travels to get you home for the holiday.

Merry Christmas!

I hope everyone had a great year. The end of year is a great time to think of all that has occurred, where we are, and where you want to go. Thank you to everyone for the contributions here. We all learn something every time anyone makes a post.

For those from the South: "Merry Christmas, ya'll"! :tg:

Good 'toons Marc.

I wish all the participants and browsers of "the Cove" the best Christmas, and we all continue to help each other through 2008 and beyond. This is the best group of quality professionals anywhere in the world. And a special thanks to Marc to keeping it going.

Please accept with no obligation, implied or implicit, my best wishes for an environmentally conscious, socially responsible, low-stress, non-addictive, gender neutral celebration of the winter solstice holiday, practiced within the most enjoyable traditions of the religious persuasion of your choice, or secular practices of your choice, with respect for the religious/secular persuasion and/or traditions of others, or their choice not to practice religious or secular traditions at all. I also wish you a fiscally successful, personally fulfilling and medically uncomplicated recognition of the onset of the generally accepted calendar year 2008, but not without due respect for the calendars of choice of other cultures whose contributions to society have helped make America great. Not to imply that America is necessarily greater than any other country nor the only America in the Western Hemisphere . Also, this wish is made without regard to the race, creed, color, age, physical ability, religious faith or sexual preference of the wishee. :lmao:

In simpler terms MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays all!!

May the new year bring us all happiness, success, prosperity, and that nice, smug feeling we get knowing that we quality types are just fundamentally superior to everyone else. :lmao:

I'm off to do a 14001 audit at the North Pole- it seems that 8 certain tiny reindeer have been emitting liquid and solid discharges at high altitudes that have not been properly documented.

God bless you all -John

Best of the festive season to you all.

I have found the posts and information on the Cove invaluable in my work since discovering you all.

Thank you for advice and sharing with those of us seeking help in our work, sometimes as an individual quality worker in a smaller organisation.

We will be having a sunny warm holiday here with sun, sea and surf so I thought I'd share an oz version of an old favorite.
:lmao:Translation is available if needed:lmao:

Aussie Jingle Bells
(you all know the tune)

Dashing through the bush, in a rusty Holden Ute
Kicking up the dust, esky in the boot
Kelpie by my side, singing Christmas songs
It's summer time and I am in my singlet, shorts & thongs

Oh, jingle bells, jingle bells jingle all the way
Christmas in Australia on a scorching summer's day
Jingle bells, jingle bells Christmas time is beaut
Oh what fun it is to ride in a rusty holden ute

Engine's getting hot, dodge the kangaroos
Swaggy climbs aboard, he is welcome too
All the family is there, sitting by the pool
Christmas day, the Aussie way by the barbecue!

Oh, jingle bells, jingle bells jingle all the way
Christmas in Australia on a scorching summer's day
Jingle bells, jingle bells Christmas time is beaut
Oh what fun it is to ride in a rusty Holden Ute
Come the afternoon, grandpa has a doze
The kids and uncle Bruce, are swimming in their clothes
The time comes round to go, we take a family snap
Then pack the car and all shoot through before the washing up

Oh, jingle bells, jingle bells jingle all the way
Christmas in Australia on a scorching summer's day
Jingle bells, jingle bells Christmas time is beaut
Oh what fun it is to ride in a rusty Holden Ute

Looking forward to sharing more in the Cove in 2008

Could be the type of thong that you thing.

In the 60s there was a singing group here called The Seekers (I've heard from others as obviously I'm too young to remember the 60s :notme:) and the joke went:

Q: What's a thong?
A: A thong ith a thing the theekerth thing

I'm heading to Hawaii next March and the only type of thong this aussie will be sporting on the beaches over there is the rubber footwear type :lmao:

Yes, a Very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to everyone here! The sentiment is the same, no matter what the festival we each may celebrate!

It has been my pleasure to be able to participate, here at the Cove over the past few years, including all those questions, 'Try'!

Although I'm stepping out of 'mainstream' management systems, to focus on a new and very different vocation, I will be around to keep a 'finger in the pie' - if you get my meaning!

Have a safe Holiday Season, everyone..........

I too want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!!:)

Thank you all for the helpful information given during 2007. I've only been a Quality Engineer for a little over 3 years and still consider myself very green. The Cove has helped me through numerous issues this year and it's nice to know I have friends that I can count on for advice and criticism.:thanx:

Helpful reminders for the next week or so:D:

1. Drink as much eggnog as you can. And quickly. It's rare. You can't find it any other time of year but now. So drink up! Who cares that it has 10,000 calories in every sip? It's not as if you're going to turn into an eggnog-alcoholic or something. It's a treat. Enjoy it. Have one for me. Have two. It's later than you think. It's Christmas!

2. If something comes with gravy, use it. That's the whole point of gravy. Gravy does not stand alone. Pour it on. Make a volcano out of your mashed potatoes. Fill it with gravy. Eat the volcano. Repeat.

3. As for mashed potatoes, always ask if they're made with skim milk or whole milk. If it's skim, pass. Why bother? It's like buying a sports car with an automatic transmission.

4. Do not have a snack before going to a party in an effort to control your eating. The whole point of going to a Christmas party is to eat other people's food for free. Lots of it. Hello?

5. Under no circumstances should you exercise between now and New Year's. You can do that in January when you have nothing else to do. This is the time for long naps, which you'll need after circling the buffet table while carrying a 10-pound plate of food and that vat of eggnog.

6. If you come across something really good at a buffet table, like frosted Christmas cookies in the shape and size of Santa, position yourself near them and don't budge. Have as many as you can before becoming the center of attention. They're like a beautiful pair of shoes. If you leave them behind, you're never going to see them again.

7. Same for pies. Apple. Pumpkin. Mincemeat. Have a slice of each. Or if you don't like mincemeat, have two apples and one pumpkin. Always have three. When else do you get to have more than one dessert? Labor Day?

8. Did someone mention fruitcake? Granted, it's loaded with the mandatory celebratory calories, but avoid it at all cost. I mean, have some standards.

9. One final tip: If you don't feel terrible when you leave the party or get up from the table, you haven't been paying attention. Re-read tips; start over, but hurry, January is just around the corner. Remember this motto to live by:
"Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO HOO what a ride!"
