Hi All
We have been asked to put together an Acceptance Test Plan (ATP) made up of QAT, FAT, OSAT & FAI. I know the acronyms stand for Qualification Acceptance Test, Factory Acceptance Test, On-Site Acceptance Test and First Article Inspection. QAP and FAI are self explanatory but I am not sure what we would need to do to satify FAT and OSAT. Can anybody enlighten me?

GainFord,
To give a somewhat out look, go back and look at your R&D Testing requirements, and your Design FMEA.
1. FAT, what Design/PFMEA tests are done in the factory and call out on the control plan for durability tests.
2. OSAT, same as above but look at what is called out or any at your disturbution, or a line setter at the factory where is your product is going to be used.
3. We have tests at the line setter and at the distributor, when a 18 wheeler from whick ever company sends to dealer for sale, and then you can in could warranty to this.
4. This needs to be spelled out during your design/durability/ control plan, PFMEA, what tests are done during production, qtrly, semi annual, etc.

Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT)
Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) is the final check of the equipment before it leaves the manufacturer.
Site Acceptance Testing (SAT)
Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), is performed upon delivery of the equipment and confirms and documentation that the equipment operates as designed and specified. This is usually done by Design Qualification (DQ), Installation Qualification (IQ), Operational Qualification (OQ) and Performance Qualification (PQ).
Btw, I havent heard of Quality Acceptance Test (QAT) - can you pl tell me ?

On your control plan or pfmea, is there test equipment used or built in and tests conducted prior to leaving your plant.
This is QAT, and dock audits of products.

QAT stands for Qualification Acceptance testing i.e. the initial testing which is performed to verify the part/equipment fully meets the requirements of the specification.

Gainford,
I will leave it at this:
QAT, was started by all the ins and outs with with testing of all as spec's
for space travel, stations, controls, Again this is the approval of product
prior to leaving your facility and what it does and how and what it was made from and will it conform to all spec's and testing.
