Has anyone heard of a spec called F97, that may be an Older English Shipbuilders spec on hoists and cranes? It's being referenced on POs from two material handling companies: Cat and Raymond. I can't seem to find anything about it on the Internet or Document Companies...
Thanks :thanx:

I also did a Goolge search and yielded the following results.
I'm not sure if they're what you're looking for but good luck.

Includes information on unit rating, lubrication, components, thermal rating, storage and installation. It replaces ANSI/AGMA 6010-E88.

I'm not sure it's the right one either, Gard, but you got farther than I did with it!
Thanks!

I have not seen this reference before, but when I searched I found several documents that referenced an F97 inspection form for cranes and hoists. All were from the UK. One was fps.org.uk/guidance document/LolerGuidance.pdf I hope this helps.

Thank you, at least this document mentions the F97 as a record. unfortunately, it doesn't explain the format or contents the record should contain. But I'll continue digging.
Let me correct the link:

Just to close the loop, we were able to track F-97 back to the UK's Factories Act of 1961, where a copy of the form F-97 was found. The Factories Act relative to chains, ropes and lifting tackle was repealed and the superceding document is the Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulation (LOLER) published by the Federation of Piling Specialists.
So thank you, MAcox. You got me off in the right direction! :thanx:

LEEA is 'The Lifting Equipment Engineers Association' (www.leea.co.uk/) of UK.
If you are looking for their publications, just check their website. If you are looking for LEEA members to carry out inspection/examination in your area, I think there are plentiful (mostly in the Petroleum Industry). Otherwise, you should be able to get some advice from LEEA.
