Can anyone share an example of a stock procedure? I'm interested to see how others are handling their stockrooms especially for a small business.

Thanks,
al40

Thanks,
al40Maybe just a little more detail is in order here.
Stockroom of

MRO (maintenance, repair, and operations supplies)?
raw materials inventory?
finished goods inventory?
all of the above?
something else?

Sorry,
I was in transit, I've been asked to enact new processes in our stockroom so I'm looking for "all the above" process if it exists, I've never been involved with stockroom activiites so I don't know how it should be done.

Thanks,

al40OK. Here's the first clue:
Forget the term "stockroom" and adopt "warehouse."
Then google the term "warehouse management" and see what you come up with to give you a basic understanding of what is involved in management of any "in and out process of handling physical items."

There is little sense to any of us recreating the wheel here and we don't have personal knowledge of you and your capabilities and sensibilities to recommend a specific text to give you what you need. Even this Wiki definition might frustrate some folks http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Warehouse_management_system

We want you to resolve your question, though, so come back to us with some specific questions as you gain some basic knowledge about warehousing concepts and systems ranging from paper and pencil to full electronic for managing small and large warehousing operations.

I'm sorry to say I don't know of any 1-2-3 simple way to make you an expert in one or two paragraphs here in the Cove.

Thanks Wes, I was just trying to get an overview of the process, maybe this is one I'll have to pass on to someone else with more experience.

Best regards,

Attached is an outline process description which may give you some ideas. You would obviously have to amend it depending on the type of goods, premises, recording system etc.

Is this the sort of thing you were looking for?
