As with the other calibration frequencies you are asking about, it depends upon the use, the location and other factors. More specific information from you is needed.

I also recommend you read about Setting Calibration Frequency for Measurement Instruments (http://Elsmar.com/Forums/search.php?do=process&titleonly=1&query=calibration+frequency).

Hello Kevin,

Our Fellow Covers will certainly respond. However, a primary source for answering your question could be the manufacturer of the equipment. Equipment manuals may be a good source of information as well. Have you checked into that?

Hi dear Kevin,
couldn’t you answer dear Stijloor direction yet? If you have not any helpful manuals about your device, I think you can find some in this link(if my guess about model of your device is correct): http://www.leica-geosystems.com/metrology/en/ndef/lgs_69045.htm . Anyway after getting information, decide about your device time interval with considering all affecting parameters (especially about laser-base-devices: proper handling).

Having spent the last 12 years working with Leica Trackers of all types my recommendation would be to do a "Traceable" Calibration at a minimum yearly. Companies with their own Calibration equipment (this only requires a motorized Ball Bar available from Leica) perform the Calibrations every 6 months, these are not "Traceable" calibrations unless you measure to a known standard at the completion of the Calibration.

Typically, the Leica Laser Trackers are extremely robust and do not "just lose their calibration". There are Field Checks available to test the system, there is also a test that many experienced Tracker operators use to determine the condition of the Trackers measurement capabilities. As a Consultant specializing in Portable Measurement Systems I can assist you in developing the proper processes for your requirements, feel free to contact me for more info.
