View Full Version : Does Anyone know about the European regulation on PFOS (Perfluoroctane Sulfonates)?

Dear All,

How are you ? Hope all Crew at Cove doing Fine always.

I was confuse with PFOS (Perfluoroctane Sulfonates ), since now i have just require our supplier to supply part that have to be free from Hexagonal Chromium,Cadmium, Mercury and lead, is there requirement for this PFOS,

Need your assitance

Hi Ignatius,

I have transferred your post to this section which addresses all issues on restricted substances.

Regarding your question, the European Directive on PFOS (http://eur-lex.europa.eu/LexUriServ/LexUriServ.do?uri=OJ:L:2006:372:0032:0034:EN:PDF) is different from the one that you mentioned for Hexavalent Chromium,Cadmium, Mercury and Lead. These ones are covered under the Restriction on Hazardous Substances (RoHS).

Do you supply to Matsushita? PFOS is not part of the original RoHS (the six items you listed). Have a look at one of the self explanatory links: European PFOS restrictions. (http://www.rsc.org/chemistryworld/News/2006/October/27100601.asp)

If you deal with Matsushita, have you seen this attached document?
