Are AWS procedures recognized or acceptable or exchangeable for EU products or will I have to re-qual everyone? I am bidding a job for a customer (Navy) who call out MIL-STD-1689A for welding. We are AWS qualified but am not sure if we need to get qualified to the MIL Spec. or if they are compatable.

From the Machinery's Handbook, 28th Edition (Page 1383):

Welding Codes, Rules, Regulations, and Specifications. - Codes recommending procedures for obtaining specified results in the welding of various structures have been established by societies, institutes, bureaus, and associations, as well as state and federal departments.

The latest codes, rules, etc., may be obtained from these agencies, whose names and addresses are listed as follows: (***listing 1 of 14***)

Naval Facilities Engineering Command, 1322 Patterson Ave., Washington Navy Yard, DC 20374. (SB)

Note:

AWS and ASME are also included in the list.

Hope this helps. :)
