I need some specifications/standards of cosmetic defects on chrome plating. My application is mostly for visual appeal.

You may want to try this resource: NMFRC (http://www.nmfrc.org/resources.cfm).

Has anyone had any sucess at actualy finding the following documents from The Metal Finishing Suppliers' Association

Quality Metal Finishing Guides:

* Decorative Copper/ Nickel/Chromium and Substitutes

* Functional Chromium Plating (Hard Chrome)

They come up in a number of searches but even contacting MFSA has not been fruitfull for me.:bonk:

If you go to this web page (http://www.pfonline.com/articles/00sum03.html) you'll find a reproduction of a Chrysler standard for a decorative nickel finish intended to be used as an alternative to chrome--the appearance standards are the same.
