View Full Version : ENEC Mark - How is it related to the CE Mark and is it Compulsory? M Greenaway 2nd June 2008, 09:02 AM Does anyone know how the ENEC mark relates to the CE mark ? CE mark is I believe mandatory, so what is the ENEC mark for ? temujin 2nd June 2008, 10:31 AM Hi, As far as I know ENEC is more comparable to a CB certificate, i.e. it can only be issued by a certifying body. CE is, although mandatory, only issued as a declaration from the manufacturer. Most Notified Bodies have some info on ENEC: TÜV (http://www.tuv.com/de/en/more_information.html) UL (http://www.ul.com/marks_labels/mark/index.html) KEMA (http://www.kema.com/products_and_processes/product_testing_and_certification/electrical_safety/enec/?gclid=CJj8yZDv1ZMCFQuH1Qod2CQ1lg) regards t. M Greenaway 2nd June 2008, 11:35 AM So as a manufacturer/importer I would have to get CE mark, but not ENEC mark, however ENEC mark is attempting to gain more kudos due to its independant testing approach, rather than the self declaration that can be sought under CE mark ? temujin 2nd June 2008, 05:35 PM So as a manufacturer/importer I would have to get CE mark, but not ENEC mark, If your product falls under the scope of any European Directive, you must perform a relevant conformity assessment route and apply the CE-mark in order to market your product in any EU state. CE Mark is required by law and cannot be substituted by e.g. an ENEC mark. I do not know much about ENEC myself, just ran into it updating some supplier QA certificates. I thought of it as something similar to a CB certificate, though I might be wrong... Products falling under the ENEC scope can be found here (http://www.eepca.org/products_enec.shtml). t. |
