Problem with a Post in a Thread? Please use the Report Button!

Please do not start an argument or discussion in the thread. If you think the post is 'spam', please Report it. What ever your problem is, let us know.

Every post in a thread has a 'Report This' button http://elsmar.com/Forums/images/buttons/report.gif on it in the upper right corner.

The following screen will appear:

Just type in the reason you are reporting the post. Then click on the Send button.

This will create a discussion thread in the Moderator's forum which includes details such as who posted the post and a link to the post in question. Of course, the reason you are reporting the post is included. In addition, when you Report a post, an email is sent to the forum moderator(s) for that forum and Moderators. This email alerts us quickly to problems.

When you have a problem with a post in a discussion thread, using the Report button makes it easy for us to take a look at. We discuss the Report and make a group decision on the validity of the Report and what course to follow.

Please - If you have a problem with a post in a thread, use the Report Post button rather than starting a discussion in the thread.

:topic: (but not by much)
One of the major points we try to help both old and new users of our Forums understand is that, for the most part, the experts who provide answers to questions try to frame their answers to fit the widest range of scenarios for an original poster's stated problem.

Usually, these experts are careful to specify when the answer will only apply to a very narrow range of scenarios.

The nature of the Cove Forums is the questions and answers REMAIN for many future users to read and apply the answers and solutions to their own particular scenario.

We always appreciate when folks add additional information or clarifications to expand or narrow the range the answers already given have covered.

One courtesy is expected, though: The additions and clarifications are phrased to provide additional information to future readers, NOT to embarrass or otherwise reflect on someone's previous answer.

The Report Post button is the avenue to use if a Cove reader thinks there is something wrong or misleading about a post. Clicking on that post and completing the popup dialog box will send a message to Cove Administrators and Moderators, who will reach a consensus about each reported post and remove or edit the reported post, if necessary, to provide the best possible information to all Cove readers.

IT IS NEVER GOOD COVE "MANNERS" TO DERAIL A THREAD BY CREATING CONTROVERSY WITHIN THE PUBLIC THREAD, ITSELF.

That said, I do want to report the incidents of thread derailing have dropped considerably in recent months and the use of the report post button to help the volunteer Moderators maintain order and remove spam ads has gone up nearly exponentially.

Thanks, everyone, for the great help you, as a group, provide every day to folks who are searching for a solution to their problems.
