Hi,
Can I check if anyone here have experience with using spray painting finishing for non-blood contact medical device? Actually is it allowed?
If it is allowed, what is the lab test requirements? Special grade of spray paint?
Thanks & Regards,
Veron

Hi Veron,
I did a Google search and found an August 2001 article (http://www.devicelink.com/mddi/archive/01/08/001.html) on the subject from Device Link.

Hi,
What kind of patient contact is your device/part of your device specified for?
If you are spray painting parts that come into direct contact with the patient you will need to do a biocompatibility assessment of the part.
Spray painting other parts (like enclosures) there might be requirements on the conductive properties of the paint as well as for flammability.

Hi,
The part will not be in direct contact with the patient actually.
Does biocompatibility test still needs to be done if non-toxic/lead free paint is used.
Is there a paint finishing with FDA approved ingredients available in the market?
Thanks & Regards,
Veron
