Stijloor. sathis 10th July 2008, 09:30 AM (a) Don't accept defects (b) Don't make defects (c) Don't create variations (d) Don't repeat mistakes (e) Don't supply defects) Any further detail would be helpful sathish Tim Folkerts 10th July 2008, 09:38 AM I have heard of a Japanese concept of 5S: 1.) Sort (Seiri) 2.) Straighten (Seiton) 3.) Shine (Seiso) 4.) Standardize (Seiketsu) 5.) Sustain (Shitsuke) Perhaps it is a different translations of the same concept. I don't think the Japanese language has separate letters for "s" and "z" so perhaps when the concept was translated from Japanese to Hindi to English, the letter got changed slightly. Ajit Basrur 10th July 2008, 09:55 AM (a) Don't accept defects (b) Don't make defects (c) Don't create variations (d) Don't repeat mistakes (e) Don't supply defects) Any further detail would be helpful sathish This is new to me too - where did you come across the term ? Tim Folkerts 10th July 2008, 10:08 AM A quick websearch turned up this: This standard defines the procedure of “5Z Accreditation” which is the scheme to promote, evaluate, maintain and improve process control using the Genba Kanri principles. “5Z” is a general term for the following five actions ending with “ZU”…meaning “Don’t” in Japanese. -UKETORAZU (Don’t accept defects) -TSUKURAZU (Don’t make defects) -BARATSUKASAZU (Don’t create variation) -KURIKAESAZU (Don’t repeat mistakes) -NAGASAZU (Don’t supply defects) from http://www.isixsigma.com/dictionary/5Z-1904.htm But that is about the only link that seems to be connected to this concept, so apparently it is not a very common idea. And that may apply to Baskin Robbins as well. :D Stijloor. SteelMaiden 10th July 2008, 11:08 AM :topic:Another new flavor from Baskin Robbins What multiple letters haven't been covered yet?
