View Full Version : Research with companies who have implemented OHSAS 18001
Kimohio 23rd July 2008, 04:35 PM Hi,
I'm new to this forum, but it appears that there is a lot of knowledge out there that I might be able to tap into for my research.
We are a manfacturing company, which makes automotive parts. We have five different sites throughout the United States with a total of 1350 employees. We are exploring the opportunity to put a health and safety management system in place with an international focus.
I have developed a short survey that would be easy to complete over the telephone seeking information from companies who have implemented this system and received certification or have not received certification, but implemented it anyway.
Would anyone be open to me giving you a quick call to ask some questions about the pros, cons, benefits, lessons learned, etc?
Thank you in advance for volunteers. Kim

Kim,
Because this is an open forum for the learning and development of all participants, why don't you make your "survey" public?
Welcome to The Cove Forums! :bigwave: :bigwave:
Stijloor.
Kimohio 23rd July 2008, 04:52 PM Thanks for your reply. I thought that I did make it public. What do I need to do to change it? Kim
Kimohio 23rd July 2008, 04:55 PM Sorry - I misunderstood. The survey has 14 questions. I am happy to make it public, but I wanted the opportunity to also have a voice to voice dialogue on it. I will post the questions in the next post. Thanks, Kim

Hello Kim,
Because of this
Would anyone be open to me giving you a quick call to ask some questions about the pros, cons, benefits, lessons learned, etc?
I was under the impression that you only wanted phone calls.....

Then you'll probably have to wait for someone to contact you by a PM.
What's your survey to be used for anyway?
Kimohio 23rd July 2008, 06:00 PM Thanks for your reply. We want to review the process, successes as well as concerns that companies have worked through in adopting this health and safety management system. We are determining what our strategy is for 2009 -- whether to implement the OHSAS in our company or not. Kim
Randy 23rd July 2008, 10:17 PM Kim,not knowing what a "Safety Advisor" is or does I'll just make a couple of general statements.
If you have any kind of effective safety program in place to meet US OSHA requirements, especially if you're a VPP site you'll already have anywhere from 50%-80% of the requirements of 18001 met.
As for detemining strategy for 2009........what's the cost of reduced and managed health & safety risk worth?
