I'm in process of designing an small capacity fluid infusion pump. The infusion pump rate of 0.1 to 50 ml/hour. It must be accurate across the range, especially at rates below 1ml/hour. I am looking for a specific Work Instruction or Procedure on the subject of mechanical design (of course, each device has different requirements).
Does anyone have such a Work Instruction that I can use as a guidance?
Thanks a lot.

jowinlim1985, your Blog post has been moved to the forums from your blog where it is most appropriate. Hopefully you'll get some replies here.
BTW - Thanks to Coury!

Hello Jowin! Welcome to the Cove!
Now, you state that this is a thesis project (thanks for letting us know). Is this a hands-on type project? Building an infusion pump from scratch is no short order.
Are you looking for design specifications or a way to verify the accuracy of the pump?
What I might do is utilize PADDIE:
Plan
Assess
Design
Develop
Implement
Evaluate
The PAD portion can be the proposal. I would pass that by your instructor, to make sure you are on the correct path.
As far as accuracy, unless you have some proven, validated design method for this flowmeter, it will be hard to obtain pre-accuracy values until you make it and test it. You can look at the Gauge R&R threads to help you.
Once you have it and you want to test the accuracy, well... flow is a very tricky item to test. If you can dispense from it in a container of know volume (or using weight) and a timer, you can verify it. That method, however, does have inherent error.
Hope something here helps.

Welcome Jowin,
Medical device design is more regulated, look here for guidance (http://elsmar.com/Forums/fileslist.php?mode=allfiles&sortby=filename&pageamt=2&criteria=design) on design control principles and design control steps. On the same page, there are other files on design controls and procedures. We also have a file on product design and development phases and reviews here.
