View Full Version : Profiles User Titles and Stuff Like That Marc 22nd March 1999, 02:02 PM Yeah - it's a 'feature' of the software. No big deal. We're easy here. Kevin Mader 22nd March 1999, 02:54 PM Da Cheech Wizard, I kind of like the informal touch. I agree, 'Junior Member' gives me the wrong impression too. Marc, I like the modifications you have been making to your site. I also noticed that the enrollment dropped from 324+ to 272. Were they idle accounts, or the folks known as the "Lurkers"? Kevin Dusty 22nd March 1999, 04:26 PM Kim, If you were to go to your profile....at the top of the page that comes up it has a search for all posts by that mem...uh, lurker...;-) Also noticed the drop in members... ------------------ Dusty Rhoads (Chief Dummy) Kim 22nd March 1999, 04:37 PM Check it out....I've been promoted already!! Where's my raise? hehehe I had noticed that search engine, and actually had to use it to find out where I had posted once last week. Not to worry, I'm now reading a book on how to improve my memory, and will try not to have this difficulty in the future... :) Kim Marc 22nd March 1999, 07:56 PM The forum has been up for a while. When I upgraded software I also deleted a number of 'users' who, it was obvious, 'registered', stopped by once or twice and never came back. I am sure I missed a bunch (there is no 'last visited' information, which is a shame) - the 'members' number is relative. IF I was just trying to 'pump up' the numbers I would have left those 'phantom' users on the list - but - I'm more interested in approximate accuracy. In all honesty I don't believe there are more than maybe 50 to 100 people who stop by on a regular basis. As far as Kim's raise, well, Kim, I spoke with your boss and was told to tell you to stop by your boss's office and ASK nicely.... As far as your memory, if you are a child of the '50's or 60's (or earlier), you're forgiven. If not you have no excuse.... http://elsmar.com/ubb/wink.gif [This message has been edited by Marc Smith (edited 03-22-99).] Kim 22nd March 1999, 08:06 PM I can tell you're not telling the whole truth here....because my boss was in California today at a convention. :P Although I am due for a review....and he'll be back tomorrow.... As for my excuse....I'm not telling you which decade I was born in....women's perogative http://elsmar.com/ubb/smile.gif Or was that changing my mind..... Off to the homestead....later, all Kim Marc 22nd March 1999, 08:22 PM Ummm, lets see. You used the word 'women' so ya have to be late thirtys or older... So - we're closing in! Have you stopped by your boss's office to SEE for sure no one is there??? Hmmmm??? Kim 23rd March 1999, 01:01 AM Hello, all First I'd like to know how I went from "Junior Member" to "Lurker"....but that's not why I'm here. http://elsmar.com/ubb/smile.gif Is there a way that I don't know about to check where it was that I last posted? I come back here and have to try to remember what subject and all I posted under. It can take quite awhile for me to try to trace back, but maybe it's just because I'm new. If it isn't just because I'm new, I'd like to see something where the forum will tell you where you last posted, or where all your posts are. I don't even know if I'll be able to find this post again..... Thanks! Kim [This message has been edited by Kim (edited 03-23-99).] Marc 23rd March 1999, 01:28 AM The software was changed out over the weekend and we went to Lurker from Junior Member as Junior sounded so - well - I didn't like it. Lurker means you are registered but have less than 5 posts - so at best fo far you are 'lurking' (not significantly contributing). After about 5 posts you wil become a 'Contributer'. Forum Moderators are 'Local Wizards' and I (the overall administrator) am 'Da Cheech Wizard' (from Vaghn Bode's comic stip in the early to mid- 1970's). So far identifying one's posts has not been brought up as a problem - but if you want to see your posts, go to the forum search engine and put in your name and do the search. There you have it! Kim 23rd March 1999, 01:57 AM So....if I hurry and post three more times I'll be promoted?? I wish it were that easy here at work!!! Thanks! Kim Kim 23rd March 1999, 11:39 AM Well, you're a little off....early 30's http://elsmar.com/ubb/smile.gif How does the word women give me away?? And no, the boss wasn't here yesterday, but he's here today. Do you think I should ask him before or after I tell him we need to rewrite the Quality Manual?? I was afraid for a minute that you were in California at the same convention, and you really had talked with him.....scary thought! Marc 23rd March 1999, 12:02 PM I was just kidding you all around. And I had no idea what 'decade' you were born in - but you told us anyway! http://elsmar.com/ubb/wink.gif Early 30's, huh? Born about 1965 when many of us were already partying, eh? You get no credit for the loss of memory at your age. Those of us who partied thru the sixties have an excuse. Maybe a poor one, but we have one! If you were born circa 1965, it had to be nearly 1980 before you got into any serious partying. But - in all fairness, you have more time left in your life to carry on.... Ummm, well, ask before you tell your boss about the manual.... Does your boss have pointy hair? Now - From your first post in this thread - just why ARE you here? [This message has been edited by Marc Smith (edited 03-23-99).] Kim 23rd March 1999, 02:18 PM OK, you got me....I was born in '67....but I have an older brother, and two older sisters, so I got an early start on the party phase http://elsmar.com/ubb/smile.gif But luckily for me, it was way before the crack thing got started, or I probably wouldn't be here today.... My boss doesn't have pointy hair ....hehehe What little of it he has is curved gracefully over the top of his head. As for why I'm here.....I came here, and started this thread so it would be easier to find myself....er... my posts http://elsmar.com/ubb/smile.gif Marc 23rd March 1999, 03:06 PM You ought to have the hang of things by now. Not that hard to figure out if you have any brain cells left! Welcome to the forums! A FUN place to be! We even welcome 'kids' like you here! Where are you located? Kim 23rd March 1999, 04:45 PM I think I now have my last few brain cells in line and can muddle my way through here. Thanks for the welcome. :) I'm located in Houston. If you want to see what the shop does, I put a link in my profile. Kevin Mader 23rd March 1999, 06:47 PM Kim, A little bit better than the ASQ net, ehh? Kevin Kim 24th March 1999, 12:35 PM I still have to scroll, but not in my own reply http://Elsmar.com.com/ubb/smile.gif I do like how all the messages are in line and all that. Didn't I already say thank you?? http://Elsmar.com.com/ubb/smile.gif Have you checked out our site? I think it's pretty good. It looks a lot like our brochures. Ahhh, maybe this time I can remember to toggle my signature line... I was also wondering.....you 2 seem to spend a lot of time posting here....is it slow where you are also? Kevin Mader 24th March 1999, 02:12 PM Kim, Not really slow. I just try to post here in the a.m. (I generally come in about an hour early), again at lunch, and lastly just before my exit. Problem here is that I often type a response (in part or whole), walk away from my computer, return to send it later. It does give the appearance that my system is tuned into the Cove all day, but that is not the case. I like to repond frequently to questions or participate in discussions, I think that this is a great way to learn and share, so I do my part (and perhaps then some). Either way, this place is a bit addictive to a Quality junkie like me. I would probably spend some of my R&R hours here if I were online at home. I did visit your site. Actually I had some problems accessing portions while I was there. I found out that you were from Texas before you posting it here. Have you visited the Thule page yet? I believe we are at www.thule.com. I guess I should know that? Oh well, my weary brain. Regards, Kevin p.s. Yes you did thank me already. Kim 24th March 1999, 02:28 PM Kevin, Kevin, Kevin.....you really should learn how to do the links, they're pretty neat. (I really hope that works, and I didn't just mark myself an idiot....) http://elsmar.com/ubb/smile.gif And I will take a look, thanks. Kim Marc 17th January 2000, 04:03 PM Links are automatic now - just type the url from the www. part (you don't even need the http:// part) and the link will be made 'automagically' when you send the post.
