Is every PMA part has to have an 8130 form?
Or compliance with part 21.303 is all you need?
Thanks in advance.

All PMA (Part Manafacture Approval) parts that are exported that are for instalation on comercial aircraft have to have this tag.
For domestic if they are going to an OEM they are not needed if the customer does not request them.
Most of the time they are always requested if they are needed or not.
If you are the sub to the holder of a PMA you can not place the 8130-3 on the part as you do not have the actual PMA approval.
Follow Order 8130.21 for proper use.

Are you referring to FAA form 8130-3?

It depends on what you are doing with the PMA part as the 8130-3 tag has multiple uses. If you are exporting the part to a country that we (USA) have a bilateral agreement with and the part is new and your customer is requesting an 8130-3 tag, then the answer is most likely “maybe”. The tag can also be used by a certified repairman for returning a product to service.

The following order explains the usage for the 8130-3 tag.

8130.21F (http://www.airweb.faa.gov/Regulatory_and_Guidance_Library/rgOrders.nsf/0/c32bfdde346c3ec18625745d004fb0b0/$FILE/Order%208130_21F%20.pdf)

Hi Corsair,

The other posts cover the 8130 tag in an excellent manner. The other part of your question had to do with 14 CFR Part 21, specifically 21.303. In short, every PMA part must comply with 21.303. A good place to read about 21.303 is to navigate to the FAA web site, click on Regulations, Select Current Regulations and Part 21. That should allow you to navigate to the various subparagraphs in Part 21. Find 303 and you'll see what each PMA part has to comply with. Of course this is only one of the regulations PMA parts must comply with. Depending on the aircraft type (Part 23 or Part 25) each PMA must have data to show compliance to the necessary certification paragraphs. Hope this helps,
